트럼프 주니어 “중국에는 절대 투자 안 한다”…강경 발언 파장

Trump Organization Executive Dismisses Chinese Investment Opportunities

The eldest son of the U.S. President, who oversees international ventures and development projects for the Trump Organization, made frank remarks about Chinese business prospects during a private investor gathering in Zurich, Switzerland.

When asked whether he would consider putting money into Chinese markets, Trump Jr. gave a blunt response: “Absolutely not.”

He elaborated on his position, stating that treating China as if it were a true ally would be misguided. “Pretending they are partners would be foolish,” he remarked during the closed-door event.

The executive also raised concerns about the legal framework in China, pointing out what he sees as systemic disadvantages for foreign businesses. He noted he couldn’t recall any instance where a non-Chinese party had prevailed in litigation within the country’s court system, suggesting the judicial environment is tilted against international companies and individuals.

Contradiction with Current Diplomatic Efforts

These comments stand in stark contrast to recent governmental initiatives aimed at improving commercial ties between Washington and Beijing. The U.S. Trade Representative’s office has been actively collecting public feedback as part of implementing a bilateral trade committee established during a recent summit between the two nations’ leaders.

Trump Jr. currently shares executive leadership of the family business empire with his younger brother Eric, managing the company’s operations while their father serves in office. Since the administration began, the organization has pursued numerous international expansion and investment initiatives across various markets.

The timing of these remarks is particularly notable given ongoing discussions between the two economic superpowers about expanding cooperation and reducing trade tensions.
