Actress Tang Wei has personally confirmed the pregnancy rumors that emerged recently. On the 29th, she posted on her social media account stating “Yes, it’s true” and added that she was “very happy about this completely unexpected news.”
She mentioned that “another little pony will be joining the family, and everyone is excited about it.” Along with her message, she shared a photo of herself holding a toy horse in front of a playground slide, hinting at the birth of a child in the Year of the Horse.
The pregnancy speculation began when Tang Wei attended a brand event in Shanghai on the 27th. Despite wearing a loose-fitting black outfit, her visible baby bump caught everyone’s attention. Local Chinese media outlets quickly raised questions about a possible pregnancy.
One media outlet reported that “although she tried to conceal her figure with a black trench coat, her protruding belly was clearly visible when she turned sideways.” Sources close to the actress revealed that she had been avoiding social contact since late February, citing health concerns.
Previous photos from March showing her covering her stomach with a handbag at a private gathering have also resurfaced and gained renewed attention. Additionally, her refusal to participate in interactive games at a February brand event, where she mentioned “not feeling well,” is now being interpreted as early pregnancy caution.
Tang Wei, born in 1979, is now 46 years old. She married director Kim Tae-yong in July 2014 after they met while filming the movie ‘Late Autumn.’ The couple welcomed their first daughter, Summer, in 2016. Although pregnancy rumors surfaced in 2019, they were denied at the time. Now, a decade after her first child, she is expecting her second.
However, concerns have arisen regarding her upcoming film projects. Tang Wei’s next work was expected to be director Park Chan-wook’s new film ‘The Brigands of Rattlecreek.’
According to the American publication Deadline, the film features an impressive cast alongside Tang Wei, including Matthew McConaughey from ‘Interstellar,’ Austin Butler from ‘Dune: Part Two,’ and Pedro Pascal from ‘The Last of Us.’
