美·이란 평화협상 난항…트럼프 “47년간 시간 끌기” 비판

Trump Rejects Iranian Response to Peace Proposal

The US President has dismissed Iran’s reply to Washington’s war termination offer, calling it “completely unacceptable.” On the 10th, Trump posted on his social media platform that he had just reviewed the response from Iranian representatives and found it unsatisfactory.

Key disagreements appear to center on Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile management and the reopening of the Hormuz Strait. Energy supply chain uncertainties are expected to persist as neither side shows willingness to compromise on core issues.

Background on US Peace Initiative

Earlier this month, Washington proposed a one-page memorandum of understanding to end hostilities. The framework suggested an immediate ceasefire declaration followed by a 30-day negotiation period to address nuclear program concerns and other critical matters.

Trump did not clarify whether the truce—in place since last month—would continue or if talks would proceed. He criticized Tehran for decades of delay tactics, stating that Iran has been “playing games” with America and the international community for 47 years.

Upcoming Beijing Summit

The White House officially announced that the US President will arrive in Beijing on the 13th for discussions with Chinese leadership. The summit with China’s top official is scheduled for the morning of the 14th, with at least six meetings planned during the three-day visit ending on the 15th.

A senior White House official indicated that pressure regarding the Iranian situation will likely be applied during the China meetings, noting that Trump has previously raised concerns about this matter.
