Lee Jung-hoo’s Historic Inside-the-Park Homer
Twenty-seven-year-old Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants delivered a standout performance by hitting his first-ever inside-the-park home run during a road game against the LA Dodgers.
The remarkable play unfolded in the top of the 5th inning with his team trailing 0-2. With two outs and a runner on first base, Lee sent a line drive toward left field that dropped in for what initially looked like a double.
When Dodgers left fielder Teoscar Hernández mishandled the ball, Lee seized the opportunity—his blazing speed carried him around third base and all the way home, tying the game with a stunning two-run inside-the-park home run.
This marked the first time in Lee’s entire professional career—spanning both the KBO League and MLB—that he had accomplished such a feat. It was also the first inside-the-park home run by any San Francisco player at Dodger Stadium.
For the game, Lee finished 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, driving in two runs. His season batting average now stands at .267.
In the same contest, Kim Hye-seong—batting eighth and playing second base for the Dodgers—contributed an RBI single in the bottom of the 2nd inning with runners on second and third.
The Dodgers went on to win the game 5-2.
