Iran’s Top Diplomat Pursues Regional Dialogue
During his visit to Beijing, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held discussions aimed at easing regional tensions and resolving maritime access issues. He met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and also spoke by phone with Saudi Arabia’s foreign affairs chief.
Commitment to Swift Resolution
Araghchi expressed confidence that the Strait of Hormuz access matter would be addressed quickly. He emphasized Iran’s dedication to protecting its sovereignty while pursuing diplomatic channels to find lasting solutions through peaceful negotiations and consensus-building.
“Military approaches have proven ineffective in resolving political crises,” the minister noted during the talks.
China’s Position on Maritime Security
Wang Yi highlighted international concern over safe passage through the Hormuz Strait, urging all parties to respond promptly to global demands for restored normal navigation. This marked Araghchi’s first official trip to China following recent conflicts.
Diplomatic Outreach Continues
The Iranian minister also connected with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan to discuss regional developments. Both diplomats stressed the importance of sustained dialogue between neighboring nations and continued cooperation to prevent renewed tensions.
Iranian media reported that Araghchi briefed multiple countries—including China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar—on Tehran’s peace initiatives.
Conflicting Claims Emerge
Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates recently stated that Iran had resumed missile and drone strikes against its territory. Gulf nations collectively called on Iran to halt such actions. Tehran denied the accusations, claiming they were baseless attempts at manipulation.
