Intellectual property authorities have agreed to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam’s government to crack down on counterfeit goods in the region.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) focused on deepening collaboration in intellectual property matters was signed between the two nations during a presidential summit held at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi.

The agreement significantly expands the scope and depth of cooperation compared to previous arrangements. Key areas include:

  • Enhanced joint action against fake products
  • Exchange of patent, trademark, and design data
  • Information sharing to prevent malicious trademark applications
  • Integration of artificial intelligence technology in IP administration
  • Promoting IP valuation, transactions, and financial activities

Senior officials from both countries held discussions on the role of intellectual property as a driver of national economic growth, the strategic direction of bilateral IP cooperation, and concrete implementation plans for the memorandum.

IP authorities emphasized that Vietnam is a key partner maintaining close economic ties, and this new agreement is expected to significantly strengthen intellectual property collaboration between the two nations.

Officials stated their commitment to actively combat counterfeit Korean brand products overseas, contributing to increased exports for domestic companies.
