Entertainment Company Issues Apology Over Unpaid Volunteer Controversy
EDAM Entertainment has publicly apologized on the 8th regarding the controversy surrounding unpaid volunteer recruitment for their artist WOODZ’s concert in Germany.
The issue came to light when a job posting circulated across online platforms and social media for WOODZ’s world tour “Archive.1” performance scheduled in Berlin on the 7th (local time).
The recruitment notice outlined various duties including:
• Maintaining audience order
• Managing merchandise booths
• Priority given to those fluent in Korean, German, or English
• Preference for candidates with K-pop event experience
Critics focused on the fact that volunteers would only receive meals and concert viewing access, with no monetary compensation provided.
In their official statement, the entertainment company acknowledged: “We have verified the facts with the local concert organizer. We deeply regret not thoroughly reviewing these arrangements beforehand.”
The agency further committed to working closely with the local organizer to address operational shortcomings and implement necessary corrective measures.
“Moving forward, we will strengthen communication with our international partners and conduct more thorough reviews to ensure smooth operations for all concert events,” the company concluded.
