16.6M Hit ‘The Man Who Lives with the King’ Heads to Streaming After Record Run

The Man Who Lives with the King is making its way to streaming platforms.

Starting on the 29th, Coupang Play will offer the film (directed by Jang Hang-jun) through an individual purchase option. This marks the streaming debut 76 days after its theatrical release in early February.

The movie has drawn an impressive audience of over 16.61 million viewers. Reaching the 10-million mark within just 31 days of release, it secured the second-highest box office ranking of all time, trailing only behind “The Admiral: Roaring Currents” with 17.61 million admissions.

Set in 1457 at Cheongryeongpo, the story follows a village chief who voluntarily becomes a guardian at an exile site to help his community prosper. There, he encounters a young deposed monarch who has been banished from the throne. The narrative explores their unique bond and shared struggles.

The cast includes Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Hae-jin, and Yoo Ji-tae.
