TWS Joins Summer Sonic 2026 Lineup, Set to Perform in Osaka & Tokyo Amid Rising Japan Popularity

TWS will make their debut appearance at Japan’s premier music festival, Summer Sonic 2026

The K-pop group has been confirmed for the lineup of Summer Sonic 2026, scheduled to take place from August 14 to 16 across multiple venues including Tokyo’s Zozo Marine Stadium, Makuhari Messe, and Osaka Expo Memorial Park, according to their agency Pledis Entertainment.

TWS will perform on the opening day in Osaka and close out the festival on the final day in Tokyo, connecting with fans at both locations.

A Legendary Festival Platform

Summer Sonic celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and stands as one of Japan’s most prestigious music events. The festival has previously hosted world-renowned artists including Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Stevie Wonder. This year’s lineup features iconic indie rock band The Strokes, legendary Japanese rock group L’Arc-en-Ciel, and British acid jazz pioneers Jamiroquai, among others.

Rising Popularity in Japan

TWS has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity across Japan, establishing themselves as one of the hottest emerging K-pop acts in the region. Their first Japanese single “Nice to see you again” (original title: はじめまして/Hajimemashite), released in July of last year, earned Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan, representing shipments exceeding 250,000 copies.

Building on this momentum, the group achieved the highest ranking (2nd place) among international artists in the newcomer category at the Oricon Annual Rankings 2025. They also claimed dual honors at the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards, including “New Artist of the Year (Asia).”

Viral Impact and Upcoming Activities

The “Antal Challenge” from their 4th mini-album title track “OVERDRIVE” has become a trending topic in Japan. TWS will perform this song on TBS’s flagship music program “CDTV Live! Live!” airing on the 20th. Despite being released approximately six months ago, the track continues to demonstrate exceptional global reach by earning invitations to international music shows.

The members will also appear at consecutive events next month, including KCON JAPAN 2026 (May 8-10) and Kstyle Party 2026 on May 9th.

New Album Release

Meanwhile, TWS is set to release their 5th mini-album “NO TRAGEDY” on the 27th. The album tells a story of unwavering romance, depicting the group’s determination to pursue love without yielding to predetermined fate. Various promotional content, including six official photo versions and track samplers styled as “today’s fortune,” is building anticipation for their comeback.
